Pete

Pete was born to two totally normal, lovely, human parents, both of whom, somewhere in their family history, had a bit of demon. Pete got 'lucky' and picked up all of those traits at once.

Needlessly to say, Pete's parents were really surprised, but did everything to raise Pete to be a good person. They had him educated at the local temple, which is how he found out about his Goddess. He read about her in a book, reached out, and she reached back.  This was a bit of a surprise, as everything Pete had read said she didn't really *do* clerics or the like. So from that moment on, Pete used everything he'd learnt, and his new found powers to look after the people in the small fishing village that was home.

Being so different from everyone in town, childhood was rough for Pete, and he was quite aggressive until he turned 10 or so, by which time he'd outgrown pretty much everyone so the kids left him alone and he relaxed about who he was and what he was about. He learnt to not fight people, and that by helping people he could reach who people are, and through that, they could see him for who he is, rather than how he looks.  

As Pete got older, he started helping out with the more medical parts of town and eventually ended up working with the town undertaker with his childhood friend Lonfiel. After a while, the Undertaker retired and left the shop to Pete and Lonfiel where they carried on the work, caring for the Dead and the Living.

The small town where they're from is a fishing town, and about a day and a half away is the beginning of a mountain range, complete with a cave system to the Darklands. This meant that Pete saw and performed many different funeral rites as per the wishes of the dead. Pete doesn't *enjoy* working with the dead, but does understand the importance of the work, and as such is always very respectful of the services that have been requested. 

Working in the shop is how Pete and Lonfiel got 'Blessed' by Ayanmo, God of Fate to be 'Fated to be together' as a show of gratitude for the care they provided to the body of their champion. The two of them, ever since, find themselves drawn to each other. They know they can't break this tie they have between them. Because of this, Pete fully expects one day to see Lonfiel one day walk into town as well, probably swearing at stupid gods, stupid fates, and then probably him for just going where the feet took him to end up here.
