Silver was born into The Shattered Stone Orc Tribe deep in the Northern mountains above Aldercastle. He never did understand the tribe's obsession with pain and glory. From a young age, he knew was different to the other orcs. Youth (which never lasted long in the tribe) was filled with watching others trying to win brawls or get the biggest bruises and walk them off. He was much more fascinated with the natural world around him: gathering things, combining, seeing the effects they had on each other, creating things that seemed magic adjacent. Not an ideal hobby for the son of the tribe chief, who made his displeasure known each time he was caught. Both his parents tried to force him into scenarios to prove his might but he always found another way out of them using things he'd discovered: combining the proper minerals for a smoke screen to obscure, creating tangle traps from nothing. This was never clean in their eyes. Never the Tribe's way. Such things were reserved for the magic of the tribe shaman and naturally Silver should have different aspirations.
When Silver reached adulthood he was given one final chance to prove his loyalty to the tribe. A chance to go out and gather a rare substance for the tribe while the toughest warriors were apparently unavailable. He realised this was another test, harvested the materials for himself and walked brazenly back into the village munching on the remains. At this, his good favor with the chief ran out and he was kicked out of the tribe. He wandered south through the mountains, and found himself at Aldercastle.
He carved out a niche for himself in the city, doing what work he could find until his talent for observation and skill at mixing formulas allowed him to study alchemy. This opened his eyes to greater possibilities, branching out into cooking and brewing, both of which bring him great enjoyment. He honed in his observation skills working as a bartender in one of the most popular taverns in Aldercastle, but has never allowed anyone to get too close.
At his core he is a Detective, trying to uncover secrets and reveal the truth. He made a decent living at this in Aldercastle, but everywhere he turned, like a whisper, he would run into the name Andaline. At first he paid little attention. No real person could have so many of the right connections and actually know everything. But then he realized these stories weren't even centered on the city he was in but this smaller settlement called Circle Creek. So he came to meet this woman.
Upon arriving in town, he discovered that Andaline and her guild were the centre of much talk, and rumours, both negative and positive. Something about this didn’t add up, and he found himself enthralled in the potential mystery. His goals for trying to join the Horde are simple. A gathering of this many adventurers is bound to net information from many different sources which is invaluable in its own right. But the main reason is Andaline. To uncover exactly what she is, what her purpose is, and if the rumors he's heard are true. Perhaps he can learn something from her about gathering information. Or he can expose the trick behind the magic and be on his way.
